As 2015 comes to an end, I'm back to square-one on branding. One of the challenges I love about Onus is that I have the ability to test a theory or an idea in real time, gather my own feedback from customers and comments, then analyze where my brand shortcomings are.
A few things I've learned this year:
- It's really hard to be Red Bull. And if you think you can be Red Bull, then you're spending too much time thinking about Red Bull marketing and not your own.
- Social media trends are just that - trends. I've seen numerous competitors glom on to the latest "Flashback Friday" or "WCW"-type posts in a vain effort to be relevant. It's a poor attempt at branding, with little actionable content to engage customers with.
- Sharing is caring - my favorite marketing quote of all time is continually proven time and time again - "If I tell my friends about your brand, it's not because I like your brand, but rather because I like my friends." ~ Mike Arauz. I've seen great traction around giving my customers the pieces they need to talk about our service with their friends & family. By making them experts, they're doing half the work for me :)
We'll see where Onus iV Hydration goes in 2016. I'm proud to see Onus growing out of its infancy and optimistic that it will continue to mature.
