The science
What is Semax?
Semax is a synthetic peptide made of 7 amino acids. It was developed in Russia in the 1980s and is based on a short fragment of ACTH, a hormone made by the pituitary gland, with a few amino acids added so it lasts longer in the body.
Researchers, mostly in Russia, have studied Semax for its possible effects on attention, memory, and how the brain responds to stress, and it's used in Russia as part of stroke care. Many of those studies are small and haven't been repeated elsewhere. Semax is not FDA-approved to treat any condition in the United States.
That's why every Semax protocol at Onus starts with a consultation. Your provider reviews your history and goals, explains what the research does and doesn't show, and decides with you whether Semax belongs in your plan.
The research
What Semax is being studied for
Focus and attention
Small studies look at attention and short-term memory.
Stress response
Lab research looks at stress-related signaling in the brain.
Brain health research
In Russia it has been studied as part of stroke care.
Medically supervised
Provider-led plan and regular check-ins.
Research on Semax is limited, and much of it comes from Russia. Individual results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed.
