Interview with Chaz Faulhaber, cofounder

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: It didn’t take much convincing. After a mountain bike race in Arizona, we were pretty beat up, and an IV the next day seemed like a great way to recover before coming home. The difference was night and day. We were ready to ride our bikes again, which for most riders is unheard of. There weren’t any in Colorado in 2014, so we figured we better do it.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Onus iV Hydration is Denver’s only full-service IV provider, providing retail appointments, in-home concierge and event/corporate rates. We see IVs as a tool for proactive recovery versus a reactive response. Ninety-nine percent of IV companies treat this as a tool best used for hangovers, however, the benefits to us were always felt proactively. This is why professional athletes, including the Denver Broncos, Nuggets and the Rockies, trust us before games and during their training. You can help your body by boosting your system before you get a cold, when training for an athletic event, before you travel and much more. That’s where “Onus” was born — the onus is on you to take care of yourself and be ready. While our focus is proactive, we’re always happy to help for “reactive” reasons as well.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: We meet people from all industries and all walks of life that are looking for a little help conquering their mountains. One of our best days was watching a local dispensary owner chatting with a Bronco and a grandmother, all getting IVs at our retail space. It was hilarious because the grandmother had better veins than the Bronco, and he was jealous. This business gives us a chance to feel the pulse of the city. Ultimately it’s about seeing someone’s day turn around for the better.
