2015 Musings and the concept of brand

As 2015 comes to an end, I'm back to square-one on branding. One of the challenges I love about Onus is that I have the ability to test a theory or an idea in real time, gather my own feedback from customers and comments, then analyze where my brand shortcomings are.

A few things I've learned this year:

  1. It's really hard to be Red Bull. And if you think you can be Red Bull, then you're spending too much time thinking about Red Bull marketing and not your own.
  2. Social media trends are just that - trends. I've seen numerous competitors glom on to the latest "Flashback Friday" or "WCW"-type posts in a vain effort to be relevant. It's a poor attempt at branding, with little actionable content to engage customers with.
  3. Sharing is caring - my favorite marketing quote of all time is continually proven time and time again - "If I tell my friends about your brand, it's not because I like your brand, but rather because I like my friends." ~ Mike Arauz. I've seen great traction around giving my customers the pieces they need to talk about our service with their friends & family. By making them experts, they're doing half the work for me :)

We'll see where Onus iV Hydration goes in 2016. I'm proud to see Onus growing out of its infancy and optimistic that it will continue to mature.
